We follow new students from all walks of life who study at a local Los Angeles dance studio as they gear up for one of the biggest ballroom and nightclub competitions in North America. We want to shed light on the reality and diversity of the partner dance world and tell the harrowing stories of the people who make up the community.
Dance brings people together who never would have met. Dance is family, passion and athleticism. Dance is for EVERYONE and this documentary aims to prove it. We've all seen "Dancing with the Stars," but how much do you REALLY know about the people who make up the dance community?
In a world with so much bad news, we're creating a documentary of joy, hope and dance! We follow new students of a local Los Angeles dance studio as they gear up for one of the biggest ballroom and nightclub competitions in North America who all face various challenges to getting there and winning when there. We want to shed light on the reality of the partner dance world and tell the harrowing and diverse stories of the people who make up the community. From a Ukrainian instructor who deals with the daily struggles of having family stuck in the Ukranian conflict to people who were told would never walk again, to mixed Latinx who were told they weren't "Latin enough" to dance or "too Latin" to dance, these students and instructors come from very different walks of life but they are brought together by their love of dance and how it has shaped all their lives for the better.
We have assembled an amazing team whose respective departments provide visual direction

Making her feature-length directorial debut, Ashley is a Los Angeles native and dancer in her spare time. She has directed and produced for the digital space for large brands including Disney, Teen Vogue/Vogue and Vanity Fair. She received her MFA from the esteemed AFI Conservatory. She likes to tell stories with heart and a touch of comedy. Of multi-racial and multi-cultural backgrounds (Afro-Latino on one side, Russian Jewish on the other), she is also passionate about giving voices to the many people who find themselves straddling worlds and cultures...the "mixed kids," who struggle to know where they belong.
She's excited to reveal the world of Pro-Am competitive partner dancing to audiences, having been at the center of it as a competitor herself and from her diverse background, she provides and authentic and unique perspective to a world so often-closed off behind the glitz and glamour.
